Animal Birth Control

Since the space is scarce and since the human beings constantly encroaches into the habitats of the other species, the stray life of many species, especially dogs and cats has become endangered. They do not have sufficient food, safe place to stay and play, nor do they have some place to hide or run away when a man-animal conflict takes place. The new born puppies either die by starvation, diseases or get crushed under some speeding car. Kalyani Animal Welfare Foundation, therefore, feels that sterilization is the only humane way to remove their agony by controlling their population.

The foundation has sterilized many dogs and cats since its inception, the total number exceeding well above 300. Since it could not set up its hospital yet, the animals need to be taken to either private clinics or Government hospitals for the surgeries.

However, recently it has organized a sterilization camp at its animal shelter, Swarna Lata Home for Destitute Animals, to sterilize the sheltered dogs. This sterilization, i.e., Animal Birth Control programme is totally self-funded and therefore needs public contributions to successful carrying out of the project.

Sterilization of one MALE dog/cat inclusive of post operatives costs: Rs. 1,500/-
Sterilization of one FEMALE dog/cat inclusive of post operatives costs: Rs. 2,500/-
